This is Manny from Mackay, ID. Slammed on my breaks when I saw him sitting on the front porch of this biker bar. He agreed to let me take his portrait. I smacked my legs, arms, back as countless mosquitoes stung me while shooting. All he uttered was "wet spring."

Atomic City, ID. is essentially a ghost town.  I shot this on a road trip along the south end of the Lost River Range, which is more beautiful than words could describe.

Austin Kuck- CO native, but spends most of his time in WY. Met him at the bar. He goes there to draw, not drink. "It's a good place to do your art- it's social and the people are nice."

Met Harvey while on a job in WY. He's 3rd generation born in Lander, likes to drink at noon, and has a wife 2 decades younger than himself.  (Shortly after this photo was taken Harvey passed in his sleep.)

Richard was working on his truck on the side of the road in Wyoming.  I stopped, but had none of the necessary skills to help.  Just made a portrait because his face was interesting.

Met Richard on the side of the road in Wyoming. He was working on his truck. I'm friendly like a Golden Retriever, so I stopped. Asked about his gnarled hands. He used to be a crab fisherman in Alaska, now he's a logger. I like hands like that. Not enough people have hands like that anymore.

Reid Flatten of Word of Mouth Leather- Livingston, MT. I went in his shop... asked if I could take his picture... and he gave me a bunch of attitude. I politely said thanks anyway and started walking out. Think he felt bad, so he invited me back in. We talked for about an hour and then he said I could take his picture. We were both too hasty. Oh, he makes beautiful saddles by the way...

I love walking up to the door of my friend Laura's house.  She has a great sense of style and often changes out the found items that adorn her home.  The horse shoe is one of my favorites, she is one of my favorites.  Bozeman, MT.

JW of JW Hats in Salt Lake City, UT.  Their slogan is "Custom Made Hats for Custom Made Heads."  They have been in business since 1853 and make some of the finest hats, custom boots, chaps, belts and more.  

Hats for sale at This Is The Place Heritage Park, Salt Lake City, UT.  One of my favorite UT attractions, where you can step back in time and interact with blacksmiths, tinsmiths and saddle makers.  I shot this while on assignment for Buick.

Gene. He's an antique dealer in UT. He's a cool guy and has a great look. Only thing he doesn't have going is an email address. I have to bring prints to all the vintage markets I go to and hope he's there.

Gene- the antique dealer was selling vintage farm equipment and tools.  I like old things, vintage things.

Rick Sweat- Construction Foreman for the Bureau of Reclamation.  His hobbies include hunting, traveling, competing in the mountain man rendezvouses and fantasy football.

Lodge at Lava Hot Springs, ID. Equal parts hippie & dated hunting decor.  Still a nice place to stay and soak.
